SecureRAS (Secure Remote Access) connects remote users directly to their networks through “fast switching” technology. Unlike traditional VPN’s, SecureRAS does not require the public Internet for it’s connection, hence, a much more secure connection is established. “In the past, there have been two generally accepted methods of remote access: modem pooling and dial-up VPN,” explains Greg Harrington, Tier1Net’s CTO. “Tier1Net has taken the best qualities of each technology and combined them to create a new solution: SecureRAS.” While modem pooling offeres a secure, reliable solution, it also involves acquiring costly phone lines and often requires high maintenance. By eliminating the necessity of the congested Internet for the primary connection, SecureRAS has guaranteed a secure, predictable connection for remote users traveling anywhere at any time.
